Tru Temp XL Low Temperature Black Oxide Process forms a durable black oxide finish on all non-stainless steels, cast iron and powdered metals. Operating at 93°C, the Tru Temp XL process eliminates the severe hazards of high temp (143°C) black oxides, yet forms a durable black magnetite finish with the same thickness, appearance, corrosion resistance and Mil Spec compliance.
The Tru Temp XL is used as part of a two-stage chemical reaction, beginning with the deposition of Oxyprime® Primer Coat, or base coat, which is then oxidized further to form the black magnetite finish. When sealed with an appropriate rust preventive topcoat, the resultant Tru Temp XL finish is a clean black finish with a medium gloss level and high corrosion resistance.
